When they answer, “Listen to Vietnamese” records their reply and returns an English translation. You can also open the Vietnamese transcript to see what was heard. Recordings are limited to 30 seconds, keeping each turn short.

Open the phrasebook while you have an internet connection. Prepared phrases and browser-saved details can be available offline after a successful first load. Your saved phrases belong to that browser, so use the same device when you return.
Live translation and speech need an internet connection and sign-in. Stay details are optional: add your own address or Google Maps link only when it would help your trip.

Do I need to sign in to use the Vietnamese translator?
Reading the travel guides and using prepared phrases does not require sign-in. Custom translation and online speech do. Your sign-in email is shared with Ahilapillai and saved in the user list when you use the live features.
Can GoLocal translate a Vietnamese reply into English?
Yes. In the app, choose “Listen to Vietnamese” or “Listen to their reply.” After microphone permission and recording consent, GoLocal transcribes the Vietnamese speech and translates the text into English.
Does the translator work offline?
Live translation and online speech require internet access. The app’s prepared phrases and local saves can work offline after they have loaded successfully on the same browser. These guides do not replace that first app visit.
Can I save a translation for later?
Yes. After translating your own phrase, choose “Save phrase.” It is stored in the current browser. Review names, addresses, numbers, and the wording of important requests before using a translation.
